Solar
Boost controllers provide an advanced fully automatic three stage
charge control system to ensure the battery is properly and fully charged,
resulting in enhanced battery performance with less battery maintenance. An
equalize function is also included to periodically condition liquid
electrolyte lead-acid batteries.
An optional user friendly digital display is available to monitor PV charge performance. Optional temperature compensation of charge voltage is also available to further improve charge control and battery performance.
The Blue Sky Solar Boost 50 Charge Controller is one of the few controllers available that is capable of handling the amperage produced from our larger 390 watt, 520 watt and our new 720 watt solar systems.
The only drawback to the Solar Boost 50 is that it will not bring a dead battery back to full charge. Minimum battery voltage for proper operation is 9 volts. I wouldn't consider this an issue because if you have a solar system your battery should never be at 9 volts.

Maximum Power Point Tracking technology allows Solar Boost 3024iL
to increase charge current up to 30% or more compared to conventional charge
controllers. Don’t waste your money by throwing PV power away!
Solar Boost 3024iL’s advanced fully automatic 3-stage charge control system
will properly charge flooded lead-acid, AGM and GEL batteries resulting in
improved battery performance with less maintenance. The dual 30/40 amp
rating will deliver up to 30 amps in 24 volt systems, or up to 40 amps in
12 volt systems. An automatic or manual equalize function is also provided
to periodically condition flooded lead-acid batteries. To further enhance
versatility, a user configurable auxiliary output and Blue Sky Energy’s
advanced IPN™ network interface are also included.
The
user configurable auxiliary output can serve as either a 20 amp
load controller, or as a 2 amp auxiliary battery charger. The load control
feature can be used to limit excessive battery discharge in unattended
remote systems, whereas the auxiliary battery charge feature is ideal for
charging a separate battery such as the engine battery in an RV. The
auxiliary output can also provide fully adjustable dusk to dawn lighting
control.
I have the 3024iL controller and the IPN remote (pictured above and right) in my 5th wheel and I am totally satisfied with both products. The 3024iL is much smaller dimensionally than its big brother, something to consider if space is an issue. The IPN Remote is just a little taller than a credit card and about the same width which makes it easy to mount in tight spaces. The array amps readout on the display is crystal clear and easy to read. The display also indicates via a blinking LED what state of charge the battery bank is in, bulk, acceptance or float.
If your photovoltaic system won't grow past 40 amps we highly recommend this fantastic controller. Another benefit is the SB3024iL is priced a little less than the SB50. The only negative thing we have to say is that the Solar Boost 3024iL will not bring a discharged battery back to life. This is normal for any controller that operates off of battery power, and will never be an issue until your battery bank has reached the end of its shelf life.
